We're not monkeying around in kindergarten...look what we've been up to and what we will be up to!

STAR STUDENT!

Mrs. Riadi was our star of the week!  She is a star because she never gives up!  She shows others she cares by teaching from the heart!

This week the kindergartners worked on noting details in books we read and noting details about ourselves.  We read a story called Here Are My Hands and then we wrote a class story called My Body.  The class story included sentences like "I have a head for thinking" and "I have two eyes for seeing" (notice we used our popcorn words "a" and "I").  Please keep the red Popcorn Word bag in the front sleeve of their green folder.  We will add to it every week.

We also learned the sounds and actions for "t" and "i".  Have your child show you and tell you those actions and sounds (t-is like watching a tennis game...your head goes back and forth t-t-t and i-is wiggle your fingers at the end of your nose like whiskers on a mouse and say i-i-i).  Please reinforce these sounds along with "s" and "a" at home.

We were able to use the strategy of noting details to sort objects by shape or color in math.  We used the math vocabulary words alike, different and sort.  We also started an AB pattern in our calendar folders. This month is purple/yellow/purple/yellow, and so on.  We also began coloring our weather graph for the month of Semptember.
