Week of March 9- March 13

READING: Next week we will read a story called Brothers and Sisters. In the story we hear about families from a brother’s perspective and from a sister’s perspective.
Comprehension Skills: Drawing Conclusions
We will also work on rereading for understanding.
Grammar Skill: verbs
Phonics: -er ending in 2 syllable words and review vowel pairs oa and ow
Vocabulary Words: newborn, distract, twins, pest, teenager, uncle, middle and trouble

SPELLING: Next week’s words will include words that have to do with families.

MATH: We will finish Chapter 11 this week. Our test is scheduled for Wednesday. Please keep practicing counting money with your child as well as practicing math facts.

Social Studies: We will continue working on Unit 5 in Social Studies. We will be learning about voting for our leaders and about how each citizen has rights.

Handwriting: This week we will be reviewing letters and focusing on the letters “n”, and “m”. Please encourage your child to sit properly and to work carefully on handwriting homework. Thank you!
