Week of March 16- March 20

READING: Next week we will read a story called Jalapeño Bagels. In the story we meet a boy named Pablo. For International Day, Pablo wants to bring something that reflects the cultures of both of his parents.
Comprehension Skills: Following Directions
Grammar Skill: verbs
Phonics: -le ending in two syllable words and –er ending in two syllable words.
Vocabulary Words: bakery, culture, customer, dough, ingredients, recipe, international, knead, instead, cream, yeast, hair, early

SPELLING: Next week’s words will include words that are contractions.

MATH: We will begin Chapter 12. This chapter will include comparing total values of collections of coins, adding and subtracting money amounts less than a dollar, showing one dollar in a variety of ways and counting out change. Please keep practicing counting money with your child as well as practicing math facts.

Social Studies: We will finish Unit 5. Please look for a study guide. The test will be Wednesday.

HANDWRITING: This week we will be reviewing letters and focusing on the letters “y”, “x” and “v”. Please encourage your child to sit properly and to work carefully on handwriting homework. Thank you!
