Things to Know...

Reading Logs are due the first day of every month. Children who have participated will receive a coupon from Pizza Hut for an individual size pizza.

Outside Recess! We WILL be going outside for recess on days when the temperature is above 20 degrees. If your child would like to play in the snow, he/she needs to have snowpants and boots. Any child who needs to stay inside for recess must have a doctor's note. Thank you for your cooperation!!

Christmas Parties! Please NO party bags. Helpers ONLY: If you are assigned the classroom party, please be at school by 1:50. NO siblings, please. Thank you!

Marble Jar News!! We filled our marble jar and we celebrated with a movie (Robots). The children had a great time and enjoyed what they earned!! We will be working on filling the marble jar for the month of December!!

Classroom Behavior Tickets! The children will be earning tickets for good behavior. Every Friday they have an opportunity to "cash in" their tickets. We are still looking for donations to our Reward Bin. Thank you to Kelly, Tommy and Corey for their contribution to our Reward Bin. Our class appreciates it!!
READING: This week we will be reading a selection called Big Bushy Mustache. It is about a boy named Ricky who loses his disguise and tries to find different ways to solve this problem.
We will be working on the following comprehension strategies: Predicting/Inferring and Problem Solving
Vocabulary Words: bushy, mustache, disguise, handsome, mirror, costume, behind, soldier and story
Phonics: vowel pairs ou and ow and suffix endings -ly and -ful
Grammar: Singular and Plural nouns
Spelling: The spelling words for this week go along with our story. They include words with the vowel pairs “ou” and “ow”. Blue Sheets are due every Friday.

MATH: We finished Chapter 6 last week. We will begin Chapter 7 on double digit subtraction. The children will be able to subtract double digits and will regroup when necessary. We will also use our skill of subtracting double digit numbers to problem solve. Please continue to practice subtraction facts with your child.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will finish our Unit on Early America this week. We will review and take our test. Please look for a review sheet and your child's Social Studies book. Social Studies books need to be returned to school.
