June 2-June 5

This is my last weekly newsletter for the year. Here are a few reminders to help you and your child through the last few days of school:
Blackberry Farm Field Trip: Monday, June 2nd from 9:00-2:15 p.m. (weather permitting). Please dress appropriately (gym shoes, lightweight jackets, bug spray, etc.) Please remember to bring a disposable sack lunch. **Chaperones: Please bring a bag/backpack to help carry student lunches, etc.
Last Day of school for 1st & 2nd graders: Thursday, June 5th. Dismissal will be at
10:00 a.m.

Please continue to have your children come to school each day next week with their HOME FOLDER and BACKPACK (EVEN ON THURSDAY!) During these last four days of school your children will be bringing home school supplies from their desks, report cards, registration packets for next year, and other projects we will be working on. They will need their backpacks to carry these items home.

It is very important to continue to read with your child every day this summer. It is also very important for them to read to you! This will not only better prepare them for 2nd grade, but will also increase their confidence and will also increase their comprehension skills in reading. Here are some popular kids' book selection for you to enjoy!
Frog and Toad by Arthur Lobel
Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parrish
Henry and Mudge by Cynthia Rylant
Arthur by Marc Brown
Horrible Harry by Suzy Kline
