Math: We began our Chapter on addition and subtraction facts up to 18. The children practiced adding doubles. We will learn that knowing our doubles facts will help us to add other math facts (8+9 we think 8+8). We will also use the strategy “10 plus a number”. All these strategies we learn will help our first graders become successful second graders. Please practice math facts, up to 18, with your child at home. A great website for this is aaamath.com.

Earth Day!!
We have been celebrating Earth Day all week and I am glad to report that with all the efforts of our Elizabeth Ide students and families we were able to raise $390.28 for our “Adopt-A-Rainforest” cause. Thank you for all your support!
Thank you to all of the families and friends who came to visit at Open House! It was very nice meeting you all! The children were very proud of all they have accomplished and were very excited to share their fabulous work!

Beginning next week, we will begin our ABC Days of School Countdown! We will be celebrating the last 26 days with “alphabet themed” activities. As part of the ABC Countdown we will be needing a few things donated. I am asking for the following:
