Please turn in March Reading Calendars. Encourage your child to read everyday!

Reading: We will be reading a biography entitled, Johnny Appleseed. It is a biography of a man who planted many apple trees that give us delicious apples today.


Sight Words:
butter carry kind person put saw were work

Comprehension Strategies: Predicting, inferring, drawing conclusions and reviewing how to read a time line.

Phonics:
We will focus on base words and ending of "ed" and "ing".

Spelling: This week's spelling words are:

landed checking telling missed filled sleeping
bluffing planted walked jumping

Math: We began our chapter on time. We worked on hours, minutes and seconds. The children should be able to tell the difference between the minute hand and the hour hand as well as an analog and a digital clock. We wrote sentences about activities that would take hours and activities that would take minutes. We will continue working on time and probability.
Emmanuelle was our 1st Grade "Marvelous Me". Emmanuelle's mom came into our class and showed how to draw a portrait. We really enjoyed doing this. Thank you!!
Other News...
We will begin our "Chick Unit" this week. We are asking for empty eggshells (please be sure they are clean) for an upcoming project. Please send them to school no later than Wednesday, April 16th. We will begin our unit with a focus on the egg and the parts of an egg. Our eggs should arrive at school on April 16th. Our expected "due date" is May 6th.
We need more wipes. If you are able to donate some, it would be appreciated!
