Math: We will be reviewing Chapter 4 on Monday and then taking the test on Tuesday. We will be starting Chapter 5 with using basic math facts to add tens and counting by tens to add. Please continue to practice counting with money at home. Please be sure your child practices his/her math facts. We take our “mad minute” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Spelling: Our spelling list this week includes frequently misspelled words.
Reading/Language Arts: We will not have a story for the week. The children will participate in a Writer’s Workshop. The children will write a story scene and a friendly letter. They will also understand and write a persuasive essay. We will be writing, writing, writing!! Please reinforce sentence writing at home. Remind your child a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.
Science: We will be starting a new unit this week on living things. The children will be able to distinguish between and compare living and nonliving things. They will also understand how plants grow and how plants are alike and different.
