Character Counts!! We will be celebrating our pillar of the month on Fridays! This month we are celebrating “Caring”, so be sure your second grader wears red on Fridays!
Good Behavior Jar! The children are working towards a "Movie and Snack" Day!!
Math: We will continue working on Chapter 5 this week. We will be exploring different ways to show amounts including the dollar. We will also be making change and problem solving using data from a picture. Please reinforce counting with money at home. Please be sure your child practices his/her math facts. We take our “mad minute” every Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
Spelling: Our spelling list this week includes words that are spelled with th, wh, sh, ch and tch.
Reading/Language Arts: Our next reading selection takes us to Chinatown where there is a lot going on. We will be reading Chinatown and the children will learn a bit about the Chinese culture. The children will practice writing a scene including the setting, characters and the event that occurs. The children will also understand that a noun is a person, place, animal or thing.
Social Studies: We will be reviewing Unit 2 on Monday and Tuesday and taking our test on Wednesday. Please look for vocabulary words and a study guide.
