Character Counts!! We will be celebrating our pillar of the month on Fridays! This month we are celebrating “Caring”, so be sure your second grader wears red on Fridays!
Good Behavior Jar! We filled our behavior jar. The children will have an extra recess day this month.

Math: We will be finishing Chapter 3 with ordinal numbers and problem solving using logical reasoning. We will review on Wednesday and Thursday and we will take our test Friday. Please be sure your child practices his/her math facts. We take our “mad minute” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Spelling: This week’s spelling will include words with a double consonant. Please be sure that your child writes his/her name on the papers and staples them to the blue sheet, if possible. Thank you!
Reading/Language Arts: We will be reading a selection called Around the Pond: Who’s Been Here?. The children will monitor their reading and reread in order to clarify what happens in the story. We will practice writing commands and exclamations. We will also practice using our glossary or dictionary to look up the meaning of our vocabulary words.
Social Studies: Because of the hectic week, were not able to start our Social Studies unit last week. We will be starting this week. The children will be learning about different landforms. We will be comparing mountains, plains, and valleys. The children will also be comparing different types of bodies of water (ocean, river and lake). We will also be talking about different climates people live in.
