We did it!! We read 100 books! Thanks to our class, 100 books will be donated to needy children. Congratulate your child on a job well done!!
Math: We will continue to work on Chapter 3. The children will work with number patterns using a 100’s chart in order to count by 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s and 10’s. The children will also be able to identify odd and even numbers. We will also be comparing two digit numbers using <, >, and =. Please be sure your child practices his/her math facts. We take our “mad minute” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Spelling: Please be sure that your child writes his/her name on the papers and staples them to the blue sheet, if possible. Thank you!
Reading/Language Arts: This week the children will be reading fables. A fable is a story which teaches a lesson. The stories have characters that are animals with human qualities. They are able to talk and act like people. We will also be working with words with the hard and soft “c” sounds. We will also review the hard and soft “g” sounds. The children will also continue practicing sentences that are statements or questions.
Social Studies: We will start a new unit in Social Studies. The unit is called “Our Earth”. We will start the unit with identifying landforms and bodies of water.
Also in the news…
Our school wide parade will be outside, weather permitting. Please send your child’s costume in a bag (please be sure that he/she will be able to put it on, independently-no accessories, please!). We will not be passing out goody bags as per a school-wide decision. Our classroom helpers are planning a fabulous party with games and treats! You are welcome to come to our parade at 1:30.
