Riadi Reader: Weekly News From Our Classroom (October 8-October 12)

Math: We will be reviewing subtraction strategies and finishing our chapter. The test is scheduled for Friday. Please be sure your child practices his/her math facts. We take our “mad minute” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Spelling: This week’s spelling list goes along with our reading selection. Blue sheets are due on Friday. Please be sure that your child writes his/her name on the papers and staple them to the blue sheet, if possible. Thank you!

Reading/Language Arts: We will be starting a new theme this week called Nature Walk which includes selections that are realistic fiction. Our first story is called Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. As we read, we will be comparing and contrasting as well as looking at telling and asking sentences. We will also be working with words that have the CVCe pattern and words that have the soft "g” and the hard “g” sound.

Science: We will be starting a new unit in Science. The unit covers matter, energy and motion. This week we will be looking at matter and the different properties of matter.
